About Josh Mahan

Josh Mahan is a bi-coastal Animator and Art Director originally from North Carolina. His commercial clients include Disney, Netflix, Paramount, Cartoon Network, NBC, TBS, Marvel, Vice and more.

His recent roles include Art Director of two holiday specials for Disney, Mickey Saves Christmas (2022) and Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats (2023), Animator on Dean Fleischer-Camp’s Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (2022), Art Director on season one of Steven Conrad’s animated series Ultra City Smiths for AMC+ (2021) and season two of Vernon Chatman’s The Shivering Truth for Cartoon Network. (2020), The short film The Grave Of St. Oran with director Jim Batt and narration by Neil Gaiman (2019), and Art Director on the short film Bartleby with directors Laura Naylor & Kristen Kee (2017).

His work has been lauded by critics from Variety to the New York Times. Entertainment Weekly called his set design work “…the Sistine Chapel of stop-motion.” Variety has called his work “Inspired.”  His work as Director for Oxygen Network’s holiday promo Homicide for the Holidays (2019) won Promax gold and silver awards. Marcel the Shell with Shoes On was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 95th Academy Awards.
